About the Library Branch Manager (Librarian III)

Library Branch Managers will join a dynamic team of librarians, library professionals, and administrators at an exciting time for San Antonio Public Library (SAPL). As the Library looks forward to a period of growth, SAPL is seeking thoughtful library leaders who can inspire staff, innovate, and energize communities through delivery of excellent library service. SAPL’s Branch Managers are responsible for the daily operations and management of the library system’s 28 branch libraries. SAPL’s Branch Managers inspire and organize their teams and forge connections within their communities that develop into lasting relationships with the library. Multiple Library Branch Manager positions are available.

The Library system, comprised of a world-class Central Library, 28 branch libraries and a library portal at the Briscoe Western Art Museum, boasts a collection of over 2 million items including books, eBooks, audiobooks, movies, vinyl records, streaming video, and more. Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited university
• Three (3) years experience as a professional librarian
• One (1) year in a supervisory capacity

Preferred Qualifcations

• Experience supervising daily operations of a facility
• Experience serving as a direct supervisor to assigned staff
• Experience working with stakeholders in the community
• Spanish language proficiency
