The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Librarian, Senior, within the Libraries Division. Additional vacancies may be filled from this recruitment within the library system. This position may be assigned to any library location/section within the Libraries Division based on operational needs.

The purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a service section. This position will supervise and train staff to ensure excellence in customer service and adherence to the Broward County policies and procedures, resolve day-to-day operational issues and address escalating customer concerns, project or program coordination that appeals to Broward's diverse population, cultivating outreach efforts, supporting division-wide initiatives, and may serve as an Assistant Manager at a Library location/section, or as a member of the Floating Team. This role involves staying updated on contemporary issues, trends, and technology in the library profession. Additionally, this position is also responsible for collection development, youth and adult reference services, programs, and readers advisory. Additional responsibilities include attending workshops, professional meetings, and reading current literature
At the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, this role involves staying updated on contemporary issues, trends, and technology in the library profession, particularly in research libraries, archives, and special collections. The position also requires coordinating with Special Collections staff to handle researcher inquiries using databases, acquiring reference materials for the archival collection, and assisting researchers in the reading room. Regularly participate in the curation of research materials; and develop collections in line with the mission of the organization.
This position requires the individual to model the highest level of excellent customer service and professionalism to internal and external customers of the Division. Additionally, the essential skills of this position requires an individual who is flexible and adaptable in performing tasks and meeting customers’ needs.
This position will provide reference and technical support to customers of all ages; lead their team to develop and provide high-quality and diverse programs, classes, and events for all ages; accurately collect and report statistics and narrative data for their unit; conduct tours to highlight the collection, culture, art, and services; serve as Supervisor in Charge as assigned; maintain effective relationships with community groups, academic and local stakeholders; regularly participates in outreach activities; and serve on committees and teams to improve service to the public. Other responsibilities include: coordinate and oversee volunteer activities and documenting hours performed; team leader or lead worker on specific assigned projects; and maintaining awareness and responsiveness to the changing needs in the community. This position is also responsible for collection development by participating in selection, de-selection, assessment of the library collection, and assign Librarians a specific section to manage, and other duties as assigned.
This position will also perform related work as assigned and may be assigned to work at any library location based on operational needs.

Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Master's degree accredited by the American Library Association or an equivalent international degree related to library services. Requires one (1) year of library experience providing services to all ages.
Special Certifications and Licenses
None.
Preferences:
Master's degree or higher in Education or related field that is separate but relevant from the Minimum Qualifications
ALA Leadership Certificate
Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute Certificate
Post Master Certificate in Librarianship
Certificate in Library Leadership and Management
One (1) year Grant Writing experience
One (1) year Project Planning experience
One (1) year Supervisory/Lead Worker/Supervisor in Charge (SIC) experience
One (1) year or more experience working in a cultural institution focused on the history and culture of African-descended people
One (1) year or more experience in Archival Management: acquisition, organization, processing and preservation of various types of records
