Job Description

Reportingto the Head of Teaching & Learning Initiatives, the Undergraduate SuccessLibrarian (USL) is responsible for connecting the Libraries’ extensiveresources and expertise to student support programs through creative andengaging programming. The USL will serve as the library liaison to Universitydepartments and programs that focus on the first- and second-year experience,student support, and student success. The USL is responsible for the design andimplementation of innovative programming and teaching focused on fosteringstudent sense of belonging and inclusion, connecting the Libraries’ servicesand resources to the undergraduate curriculum, and teaching concepts ininformation literacy that lead to civic engagement and academic achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: ALA-accredited MLSor MLIS degree, or international equivalent; demonstrated basic knowledge of trends, methods and best practices inundergraduate student engagement and success; excellent interpersonal skills,and considerable ability to communicate effectively orally and in writingwithin and outside of the library with diverse students, faculty, staff, andlibrary users; basicorganizational and project management skills; basic ability to work both independently and collaboratively in ademanding and rapidly changing service-oriented environment; initiative; demonstrated basic experience indeveloping and implementing innovative library programming related to outreach,engagement, and/or information literacy; demonstrated basic experience inteaching information literacy and/or research skills classes or workshops; demonstratedrecord of designing, prioritizing, completing, and assessing projects in atimely manner

 

Preferred: Demonstratedbasic experience using active and experiential learning methods in a highereducation setting; demonstrated basic understanding of trends and issues inenrollment, support, and retention of college students; demonstrated basicexperience in developing online guides or tutorials for learning and/oroutreach; demonstrated basic ability to manage multiple projects while meetingdeadlines and solving problems in a rapidly changing environment; somedemonstrated leadership ability, problem-solving skills, and commitment tocontinuous learning; basic familiarity with assessment                                                                 

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Minimum$52,000, commensurate with education and experience. Excellent benefits package.
