Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is Seeking: Metadata Librarian II
The Metadata Librarian II integrates new technologies and new approaches to the delivery of information into library operations. Provides initiative and support for the Rensselaer Libraries’ digital asset management system and digital projects. Contributes specialized knowledge and support in the analysis, planning, development and deployment of tools to search,manipulate and preserve information. Collaborates with colleagues to generate and support ideas for library collections, and to plan for, develop and implement an expanding infrastructure for digital library projects. Advises Library colleagues on best practices/guidelines related to metadata.Contributes to and supports an in-house expertise of metadata. Supports existing administrative processes for the maintenance of library information discovery and access tools, while contributing to exploration of new ones. Candidate must have a Master’sdegree in library science (MLS) or equivalent,from an ALA accreditedlibrary sciences program with Two (2) years of relevant experience toinclude: Cataloging classification experience or training incataloging/metadata with demonstrated knowledge of OCLC, MARC formats,Dublin Core, and other metadata schema. Candidate must demonstrate experience with digital asset management andlinking software. Seeking anindividual that has familiarity with established and emerging national andinternational standards relating to metadata and classification. Individual must have familiarity with thebasics of ingesting staff-generated or systems-generated metadata,troubleshooting content and display issues, and creating workflows anddocumentation as well as past experience with XML and HTML
