Job Description

Westminster College, aleading liberal arts college located in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, seeksan energetic and learner-centered librarian to facilitate our campus’sinstructional design and instructional technology initiatives. The successfulcandidate will provide support for the College’s Learning Management System (Desire2Learn)and will lead faculty and ITS colleagues in an ongoing exploration of the intersectionof technology with teaching and learning. This is a ten-month, tenure-trackfaculty position. Recent graduates and technophiles who want to work withstudents and faculty are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

The Instructional Designand Technology Librarian will join a library staff that values creativity andcollaboration. They will encourage the thoughtful integration of the LMS andother technologies in face-to-face classrooms, and support faculty who aredeveloping online and/or hybrid course offerings. They will investigate emergingtechnologies and evaluate their uses, potential, and fit with the College’seducational mission, serving as a consultant to campus learning spacerenovations and new construction projects. They will provide end-user supportand training for commonly-used office software programs to members of the widercampus community.  The successfulcandidate will also contribute to the library’s information literacyinstruction and outreach program, collaborating directly with faculty andstudents.  The librarian will also havethe opportunity to assist with other library and technology initiatives asneeded.

 

Inquisitiveness, flexibility, enthusiasm, and a desire to workcollaboratively with different user populations in higher education iscritical. Strong candidates will have experience using an LMS and instructionaltechnologies, as well as proficiency with a range of commonly used software. AnMLS from an ALA-accredited institution or a relevant academic discipline withdemonstrated understanding of academic libraries is required.
