Job Description

The SchoolofInformationat San Jose State University is recruiting for a full time (non tenuretrack)  lecturer with a focus on InformationRetrieval System Design.

 

Qualifications:

A Master’s or doctoral degree inLibrary and Information Science, or a closely related field, and at least threeyears of professional appliedexperience.

Applied experience outside ofacademic settings ispreferred.

Deeply enthusiastic about 100% onlinelearning.

An awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals ofa multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study,training, teaching and other comparableexperience.

Responsibilities:

Teach four 100% online courseseach Fall and each Spring in the area of information retrieval systems. Thefocus will be on our required core course INFO 202 Course: Information Retrieval SystemDesign

Advise online graduatestudents

Engage in the school’scurriculumdevelopment

Take a leadership role in engaging students withprofessional associations at the local, national and internationallevel

Demonstrateawarenessandexperienceunderstandingtheneedsofastudentpopulationofgreatdiversity

in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language andacademic preparation.
