BallState University has developed a reputation as leaders in the field of digitalscholarship, with its faculty and librarians contributing to What MiddletownRead and The Buffalo Bill Project, both identified by the National Endowmentfor the Humanities as being among the 50 most impactful projects funded by theagency from 1965 to 2015. The Strategist will enable the Libraries and theUniversity to help bolster this already-strong reputation, creating asupportive and collaborative environment to foster further innovation andlearning through digital scholarship.

 

Minimum qualifications:  MLS/MLIS/MISdegree from an ALA accredited program or other relevant advanced degree in thenatural sciences, social sciences, applied sciences, or humanities withrelevant digital scholarship training and experience.  At least one year of experience producingdigital scholarship/digital humanities research, utilizing digital tools in aresearch environment; knowledge of research methods and technical applicationsin a digital scholarship environment; strong technical, problem-solving, andcommunication skills required; demonstrated ability to collaborate withcolleagues in an academic setting.  Effectiveoral and written communication skills.         

 

Candidates for searchesmust have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employersponsorship.

 

Preferred qualifications: 2nd Master’s degree or doctorate in relatedfield.  Experience with text mining, datavisualization applications, and/or data management projects and tools;experience using the Omeka digital scholarship publishing platform; experiencewith grant writing.
