The Access ServicesManager manages the day-to-day operations of the functional areas within theAccess Services Team, which includes resource sharing, course reserves,circulation, and scheduling staff desk coverage.The Access ServicesManager is responsible for planning and providing direction to these functionalareas at three library locations within University Libraries, with an emphasison ensuring quality service for users.

The AccessServices Manager participates in the development, recommendation, andadministration of policies, procedures, and processes. The Access ServicesManager is responsible for assessing, researching, evaluating, andreporting new developments in access services as they pertain to theuniversity’s mission, vision, and values. The incumbent helps maintain an inclusive, user-centered,safe, and functional environment conducive to learning. Additionally, theincumbent collaboratively troubleshoots and manages the Automated Storage andRetrieval System (ASRS) and oversees facilities related issues for theSteelcase Library and Frey Foundation Learning Center.

Thisposition will give the selected candidate the opportunity to:

LEAD– As a lead for theOperations and User Services Department, the Access Services Manager contributesto success by supervising,supporting, and developing a team of up to eight full time professional supportstaff. In collaboration with Operations and User Services managementteam, provides leadership by creating an environment where departmental memberswork individually, collaboratively and collectively towards achievingindividual, departmental, and library goals. This work will also involve processand project management of various initiatives involving a variety ofstakeholders.

 

COLLABORATE–The AccessServices Manager will work closely with teams both internal and external to thelibrary and will provide opportunities to work with faculty, staff, andstudents across the GVSU Libraries and the University. We seek someoneinterested in forming and maintaining strategic relationships across librarydepartments and across campus to achieve accessible and inclusive accessservices in University Libraries. CREATE—The AccessServices Manager will be responsible to update and develop innovative, efficientand inclusive practices in course reserves, resource sharing, scheduling, andwithin our Curriculum Materials Library newly located inside of the SteelcaseLibrary.

Standard Hours for this position:

Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm with expectation tooccasionally flex, be on call, and provide remote support
