Our team is working toward making Tulare County Library a leading example of what rural libraries can accomplish. The Tulare County Library System with branch libraries in seventeen communities, a bookmobile, and literacy center is a member of the San Joaquin Valley Library System (SJVLS), a cooperative network of ten public library jurisdictions in six counties in California's Central Valley.
Tulare County, a geographically large, rural county in central California, is a great place to live and work that offers an active lifestyle with recreational and cultural activities including theater, music, hiking, skiing, and sports teams, in an area offering lower housing costs and great schools. Tulare County is centrally located in California’s San Joaquin Valley, between Fresno and Kern (Bakersfield) counties, serving a population of 352,955. An agriculturally rich region, the County is one of the top three agricultural producing counties in the nation. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Pixley National Wildlife Refuge, Golden Trout and Domeland Wilderness areas, and Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park lie within the County’s boundaries. Its central location is only hours away from San Luis Obispo, Yosemite, Monterey, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and Sacramento.
