Description
To successfully engage in these efforts, the person in this role will:
- Serve as a liaison to the faculty and students of selected departments in the Reich College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences by collaborating with faculty and providing information literacy instruction and research consultations;
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and promotion of the Justice-Query Instructional Materials Center (IMC) and its collection;
- Establish and maintain a visible presence on campus and beyond by promoting literacy and reading in the campus and local communities through class visits, activities, and events, including planning and organizing the Appalachian Children’s Literature Symposium;
- Continually assess the curricular and research needs and monitor curricular changes in the Reich College of Education as it relates to the activities and collections of the IMC;
- Collaborate with the Special Collections Research Center on the Beulah C. Campbell Collection of original illustrations of children’s books;
Manage the endowment fund associated with the position for the purposes of organizing events, enhancing the IMC collection, conducting research, and traveling for professional development; - Engage in an active program of scholarship and professional service as described in the Plan for the Martha and Nancy Bivens Distinguished Professor, the University’s Faculty Handbook, and the Libraries’ Bylaws and Foundational Documents;
- Collaborate with donors to establish and maintain strong relationships in support of IMC’s mission and children’s literature and literacy programming;
Other duties as assigned that align with the needs of the IMC and/or University Libraries.
